No More Future Images with Amish at Stock Agency
Sadly, I am parting ways with one of my agencies. I am not going to name the agency, but it is time for me to say good-bye.
I submitted another batch of images that show (and hopefully informs) others of the Amish lifestyle. The agency rejected the images saying, "Amish communities require permission for this type of images."
I created that image standing along a public highway. The subject of the image was on the public highway. It is impossible for me to get "permission for this type of image(s)". Am I to drop my camera and run after the horse and buggy? And who is the Amish Community that I should contact and obtain permission to stand along a public roadway to photograph? And how am I to tell which community someone belongs? If this sounds absurd, it is.
My agency just does not want any images of the Amish lifestyle. They should say that. Period.
So some things work, and some things do not. I made the decision to stop submitting any more images to the agency. What images I have there can remain there, but I will not be adding thing else to the collection.
I intend to continue to create more images of the Amish and Mennonite community and try to show these gentle, plain people and the simple, peaceful, God-loving lifestyle. Unfortunately, my images will not be on one of my now previous agencies.
