Blogger Wins, WordPress Loses

For the past couple of months, I have been experimenting with giving up my WordPress powered website, and moving to the Blogger platform. After several months of use, the decision has been made: Goodbye WordPress.

There is nothing wrong with WordPress. I moved to it more than 10 years ago, and successfully built many different sites for my photography (as well as for some other ventures).  WordPress is solid, and it works.

But as I continue my work as a stock photographer, WordPress takes too much of my time. I decided that I could produce more images if I were not bogged down with maintaining a WordPress powered website.

My chosen solution is Blogger.  Here's why:

1. It is quick and easy to setup. Within a few minutes, I was ready to post.
2. It is powered by Google. Do I really need to say more?  My posts are in the Google search engine within minutes, and not days.
3. It is free. Does the price get any better than that? WordPress, although free, was getting more and more costly - from hosting fees to themes, to add-on code that is becoming a necessity.
4. My custom domain name URL,, is working seamlessly with Blogger. I even have two other domains pointing here (www.georgesheldon,net and

Blogger is not perfect, but so far, for everything I want to do, it is close enough to perfect for me. It has templates and enough features to keep me happy.  I am even building a portfolio page (all photographers need an online portfolio).

So I say good bye to WordPress, my old friend.

And here I go on Blogger.
